In order to improve workload distribution among board members, to support recruitment, and to facilitate board and membership meeting procedures, the board decided to redistribute the duties associated with three board positions. Previously, the Secretary/Treasurer was one elected position, and the Newsletter Editor was a position filled by appointment of the President. Now, the Treasurer is one elected position, and the Secretary and Newsletter Editor positions have been combined, so the Newsletter Editor will no longer be a separate appointed position. The position descriptions online have been updated to reflect these changes, and some of them will require amendments to the Chapter Bylaws.
At the same time, the Board has made some other minor changes to the Bylaws to help eradicate discrepancies between the position descriptions and the Bylaws, where the position descriptions better reflected historical practice. For example, we made deadlines for the elections process slightly more general (see draft for specific examples), and we changed the Bylaws to reflect the fact that the Past-President manages the elections process (as the position descriptions stated), rather than the Vice President/President Elect (as the Bylaws stated).
